Appreciated SecuritiesA gift of appreciated securities – stocks, bonds or mutual funds – doubles the benefit to you. You will pay no capital gains tax on the transfer and you can claim a charitable income tax deduction on your income tax return for the full fair market value of the securities (up to 30% of your adjusted gross income), no matter what you initially paid for the securities. Point will receive the full value of the securities, undiminished by taxes. Click here to download a simple instruction sheet on how to make a stock transfer to Point. Cornerstone SocietyMembership in the Cornerstone Society consists of an elite group of dedicated individuals who annually support the important work of Point Foundation with a minimum contribution of $500. The Cornerstone Society represents one of Point Foundation’s most important programs. Membership helps young people reclaim their own self-worth through education and makes certain that Point can continue its mission of providing scholarships, mentoring, leadership training and hope well into the future. Join today so that your contribution can be put to work to help revolutionize the face of the LGBT community through the impact of education. For more information about the benefits of being a member of the Cornerstone Society, click here. Legacy CircleMany donors demonstrate their commitment to The Point Foundation and its future through bequests in their wills. The Point Foundation works with these Legacy Donors and their executors to create a program that meets both the needs of our scholarship recipients and the wishes of the donor. Past bequests have been used to create named faculty lecture series and mentoring programs in addition to named and alumni scholarships, ensuring recognition of the donor’s generosity endures for generations to come. Click here for more information on bequests. Matching GiftsMatching gifts are a great way to involve your company with the important work of Point Foundation. Inquire with your employer if there is a way that your gift can be matched. Most companies who have these programs will match your gift dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact. Named ScholarshipsIndividuals who pledge a major annual gift for a minimum of four years and $25,000 per year for a total of $100,000 will be honored with a scholarship in their name. Donors may also choose to name a scholarship in honor of a loved one. Donors who wish to support students at their alma mater in a significant way will be recognized with a scholarship named for their college or university. Groups of donors from the same school may wish to pool their resources to create such a scholarship. Point Foundation will work with you to craft a Named Scholarship which can include the following: designated college or university, specific field of study, residential origin (e.g. a scholar either coming FROM or going TO a specific city or state). Point encourages the least amount of restrictions possible. For examples of some of our Named Scholarships, click here. Tribute GiftsWhen you make a donation of $25 or more you have the option of making your donation in honor or in memory of a loved one or friend. Many donors choose to make a donation in lieu of a gift to recognize birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions. Notification (which does not list the gift amount) will be sent to your honoree to announce your gift. More InformationTo make a tribute gift online simply enter a donation amount of $25 or more and additional fields will appear for you to enter the appropriate information.
